Job Description:

The Area Director of Sales is responsible to develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, and solicitation for various or specific market segments for assigned properties.
Qualification Summary:
Required Experience and Education:


  • Minimum two years sales experience in hospitality or two years of progressive experience in a hotel environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar computer applications.

    Preferred Experience and Education:

    • Five years prior hotel sales or catering manager experience.
    • High-school diploma or GED, preferred a bachelor's degree or two years of hospitality experience and an associate's degree.
    • Experience with Delphi FDC or Sales Pro.
    • Experience with brand's PMS and sales related applications.

      Travel:

      • Up to 75% travel requirement and travel between properties as needed.
      • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

        Physical:

        • Frequent sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, products and equipment. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment.
        • Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range.

          Other:

          • Must speak English fluently.
          • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
          • Mathematical skills include basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances.
          • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are often used.
          • Ability to effectively multi-task.

            Duties and Responsibilities:

            • Meet or exceed budgeted RevPAR goals for assigned properties.
            • Accurately forecast revenues for the following month.
            • Analyze short-term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenues.
            • Prepare sales and/or marketing plans for the following year.
            • Ensure front desk agents are familiar about all sales programs and key accounts at each property.
            • Produce sales department reports in a timely manner.
            • Know which market segments produce effective business for the properties and how to balance them to maximize revenues. Perform displacement analysis for groups or accounts as needed.
            • Know SWOT of each property and competitive sets.
            • Read and interpret STR results weekly and monthly.
            • Identify revenue opportunities and work to secure business from them.
            • Demonstrate commitment to superior guest service through personal response to guest needs.
            • Conduct site visits, coordinating with all departments for show rooms.
            • Any and all other duties as assigned.
