Job Description: Job Summary: The Certified Surgical Technician I-IV is a member of the surgical team working with physicians, nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

• Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
• Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, and accidental contamination, and protects the patient from harm.
• Assists staff surgeons, residents, medical students, nursing students, and surgical technology students with all surgical procedures and instructs on maintaining a sterile field.
• Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to the established PAR level.
• Participates in the quality improvement process.
• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
• Participates in the quality improvement process.
• Maintains all AORN and JCAHO standards at all times.
• Picks and assembles all cases for the same day and the next day. Ensures that all cases have the necessary equipment, implants, and special orders.
• Communicates to Team Leader regarding delays and add-on cases completed.

• Required Qualifications:
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery Certified (TS-C), or LVN with specialized training.
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Current JPS-recognized CPR certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• 4701 CST I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4702 CST II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4703 CST III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4704 CST IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
